🚀 Getting Started
Tap the + button on the Closet tab. You have three options: Add Photo to take or upload a photo (it's auto-tagged in the background), Import from Link to paste a product URL, or Add from Receipt to upload an order screenshot and bulk-add everything at once. After adding a photo, the item appears immediately in your grid while the app fills in the details — you don't have to wait.
Very accurate for clear, well-lit photos of a single garment. The app correctly identifies category, dominant colour, and fabric type the vast majority of the time. Brand detection works best when a logo or label is visible. If it gets something wrong, tap the item and edit any field — changes save immediately. If tagging fails entirely, a yellow Retry badge appears; tap it to try again.
Tap the search bar at the top of the Closet tab and type naturally. Search is token-AND, meaning every word must match: "green linen" returns items that are both green and linen. You can search by colour, category, fabric, brand, tags, or any combination. Results update in real time as you type.
Yes — a sign-in is required. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or your email address (code or magic link). Signing in enables cloud backup and makes sure your closet is safe if you ever reinstall or switch phones.
The style quiz runs automatically the first time you open the app after signing in. It takes about two minutes and covers your vibe, style icons, occasions you dress for, and sizing. You can retake or update it anytime from More → Style profile. The app uses your profile to personalise every suggestion — it's worth keeping up to date.
✨ The Stylist
Open the Rate tab, take or upload a photo of what you're wearing, and tap Rate. You get a score out of 100 with specific feedback: what's working, what's not, and swaps or upgrades from your own closet. You also pick who's rating you — Gentle, Balanced, or Honest — from encouraging coach to no-mercy fashion editor (honest about the clothes, never about you).
Almost anything outfit-related. The bar on the Closet home screen understands natural language and opens the right feature automatically. Good examples: "What do I wear to a rooftop dinner tonight?", "Pack for a long weekend in New York", "Rate this outfit" (with a photo attached), "Find something like this", "Does this blazer work with wide-leg trousers?"
Every stylist feature works from your full closet inventory, your style profile, and your recent worn log entries. Trips & Packing uses this to build a capsule and packing list from pieces you actually own — not generic internet recommendations. The more complete your closet and the more you use the worn log, the more relevant the plans become.
Yes — within your own profile. As you log more outfits, update your style profile, and add items, the app has more of your real taste to work from, and suggestions get sharper. Your data is never used to train AI models — see our Privacy Policy for details.
The bar reads your request and opens the most relevant feature — pre-filled with any details it picked up (destination, occasion, and so on). Simple questions get a direct answer; everything else opens the right screen: Rate My Outfit, Dress for an Event, Trips & Packing, Scan an Item, Inspo Snap, or Outfit Ideas.
👕 Managing Your Closet
Tap + → Import from Link, paste the product URL and tap Fetch. The app loads the page directly from your device, extracts the product name, image, and description, and pre-fills all item fields. Review the details — edit anything that needs adjusting — then tap Save. Works with most major retailers.
Tap + → Add from Receipt and upload a screenshot of any order confirmation. The app reads all clothing line items (filtering out shipping, taxes, gift wrap, and gift cards) and shows you a review list. Deselect anything you don't want to add, then tap Add to Closet — all selected items are saved at once.
Tap any item in the grid to open its detail view, then tap Edit (pencil icon). All fields — name, category, colour, fabric, tags, size, brand — are editable. To delete a single item, scroll to the bottom of the edit view and tap Delete Item. To delete multiple items at once, long-press any item to enter multi-select mode, select what you want to remove, and tap the trash icon.
A yellow Retry badge appears over the item in your closet grid. Tap it to retry tagging. You can also long-press the item and choose Retry tagging from the context menu. If retrying doesn't work, you can always fill in the fields manually by tapping the item and editing. Common causes of failure: poor lighting, very cluttered backgrounds, or a request timing out — retrying usually resolves it.
💳 Subscriptions & Billing
The free plan includes everything you need to build and use your closet: unlimited closet storage, 25 stylist requests per month, auto-tagging and background cleanup, the planner, trips, worn log, style profile and quiz, home screen widget, and all import tools — plus a few Photo Studio credits to try photo cleanup and virtual try-on. Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of each month.
Premium ($14.99/month or $99.99/year) adds unlimited stylist requests, unlimited auto-tagging, 30 Photo Studio credits every month, automatic cloud backup (all closet items, photos, worn log, saved looks, and style profile), and multi-device sync. The annual plan also includes a one-time 75-credit welcome bonus.
Go to More → Upgrade to Premium, or tap the upgrade prompt that appears when you reach your free-tier limit. Purchase is handled through the App Store — you'll be charged to your Apple Account on file. Annual billing is the most cost-effective at $99.99/year ($8.33/month — about 44% less than paying monthly).
Open the iPhone Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → WhichOutfit → Cancel Subscription. You keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period. Alternatively, go to More → Manage Subscription inside the app for a shortcut to the same App Store screen.
Sign in to the app with the same Apple ID (or Google/email account) you used to purchase. Your subscription is detected automatically. If it doesn't appear, tap More → Restore Purchases. Your full closet also restores from cloud backup automatically on first sign-in — this may take a few seconds if your closet is large.
Photo Studio credits power the image features — photo cleanup and virtual try-on. 1 credit = 1 photo. Free accounts include a few credits to try; Premium includes 30 every month, and Premium members can top up anytime: 20 credits for $4.99 or 60 credits for $9.99. Credits don't expire while your account is active, can't be converted to cash, and are forfeited if you delete your account.
All refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find your WhichOutfit purchase, and request a refund through Apple's standard process. We don't process refunds directly — Apple manages all billing and refund requests for App Store purchases.
🔒 Privacy & Account
Your closet data and photos are stored on your device. Premium users additionally sync to Supabase, a GDPR-compliant cloud infrastructure provider. AI requests — the specific image and prompt for each feature call — are transmitted to our AI provider to generate your result and are immediately discarded. Nothing is retained by the AI provider after your result is returned.
No. Your closet is completely private. Cloud storage is secured by row-level security rules that enforce user_id = auth.uid() — meaning only your account can read or write your data. No other user, and no member of the development team, can access your closet contents.
No. We have strict agreements with our AI provider ensuring that your uploaded images and prompts are never used to train AI models. Data is processed solely to return your styling result and is immediately discarded by the AI provider after delivery. See the full Privacy Policy for details.
Go to More → Account → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently deletes all your closet data, photos, worn log, style profile, and any credit balance from our servers. The action cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in App Store Settings first to stop future billing — account deletion does not automatically cancel your subscription.
Never. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party beyond what is necessary to operate the app (cloud storage and AI processing). Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
🛠 Troubleshooting
Check that you have an active internet connection — styling features require one. If you're connected, try again: the app retries automatically, so momentary slowdowns resolve themselves. If the issue persists after 2–3 tries, close and reopen the app. Persistent errors are usually brief periods of high load and clear up within a few minutes.
Make sure you've signed in with the same account (Apple ID, Google account, or email) you used before. On first launch after sign-in, the app automatically pulls your closet from cloud backup — this can take 5–15 seconds if your closet is large. If nothing appears, tap More → Backup & Sync and then the sync icon to trigger a manual pull. Cloud backup is a Premium feature — if your subscription lapsed, your data is still on the server; resubscribe and sync to restore it.
Free-plan stylist requests (25/month) and the auto-tagging allowance reset on the 1st of each calendar month, based on your account — not your device. The counter is shared across all your devices. Check your usage in More → Backup & Sync. Upgrading to Premium removes the limits immediately.
For Sign in with Apple: make sure you're signed into an Apple ID on the device (Settings → your name). For Google: ensure the Google app is installed or Safari can complete the OAuth flow. For email sign-in: check your spam folder for the code or magic-link email. If none of these resolve it, contact us at the address below with the sign-in method you're using and any error message shown.
Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and scroll down to see pending updates. The current version number is shown at the bottom of More inside the app. If you're on the latest version and something doesn't seem right, contact support with the version number and a description of what you're seeing.
